Scripps Will Use Cell Journalist to Power User Generated Content Solution
Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 15, 2009 -- Cell Journalist, provider of user generated content solutions to newspapers, television stations and other media outlets, has been selected by E. W. Scripps Company to provide its platform and services to allow readers of its 15 newspapers in nine states to easily send in images and videos for immediate publication in print and online.
The Cell Journalist platform enables any individual with a cell phone, iPhone, or Blackberry to upload images and videos of breaking news and newsworthy events as they happen. The platform will also allow Scripps' editors to expedite approved content to its audiences without delay, noted Parker Pollidor, founder and president of Nashville-based Cell Journalist.
The Cell Journalist platform is already in place at two Scripps newspapers--Knoxville News Sentinel (im.knoxnews.com http://im.knoxnews.com) and the Commercial Appeal in Memphis (focus.commercialappeal.com http://focus.commercialappeal.com). Cell Journalist will launch in coming weeks at the other 13 Scripps newspapers.
About Cell Journalist: Cell Journalist was born the day after the London bombings in July 2005. Founded by entrepreneurs Parker and Colin Polidor, it has evolved into the most advanced application of its kind for media seeking images and videos of breaking news, weather and community events from its audience. Cell Journalist is in use in more than three dozen media outlets nationwide and growing rapidly, reflecting current trends toward immediate audience participation in the news process. As a direct result of the Cell Journalist implementation, one Gulf Coast NBC-TV affiliate received over 2,500 images from viewers in the aftermath of September's Hurricane Ike allowing the station's audience to witness the disaster as it unfolded.
